Woman Arrested After Abandoning Seventh-Month-Old Infant At Brooklyn Deli

 A Bronx woman was arrested Saturday evening after she abandoned her seven-month-old girl at a deli in Brooklyn, New York.

The infant was left at a local deli on Myrtle Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Friday, leading employees to immediately contact 911. Moments after, NYPD officers arrived at the scene and transported her to Wyckoff Hospital where she was reported to be in good health. According to the employees’ statements, the mother asked them if she could use the bathroom that was located at the back of the store. After several minutes, the woman quickly fled from the establishment, leaving the baby girl behind.

A day after the incident, NYPD officers arrested the 32-year-old mother and charged her with child abandonment as reported by NBC New York.

The news comes amid a viral story about a 14-year-old New Jersey mother who gave her newborn baby to a restaurant customer and walked out of the door. Medics said the umbilical cord was still attached and the customer said she could tell the baby was minutes old due to her own personal experience. Thankfully, the mother and her baby are doing well and received check-ups at a nearby hospital.
