A woman and her dog are being called a miracle pair after surviving a 60-foot plunge onto sharp rocks in Canada. The shocking incident happened on August 24 when 28-year-old Margaux Cohen was hiking with her dog Zion and two friends at Tricouni Peak in British Columbia.
According to the New York Post, the group had wandered off the trail and found themselves stuck when a wall blocked their return path. What followed was a terrifying accident that could have been fatal—but somehow, both Cohen and her dog made it out alive.

How The 60-Foot Fall Happened
Cohen explained that the fall began when Zion lost his footing on the mountain. As the dog began sliding, she instinctively grabbed his harness to pull him back. What she didn’t realize was that his weight would drag her down, too.
“I did not realize that by doing this, and because of his weight, I was just going to fall. It wasn’t a straight fall. I tumbled down like four times,” Cohen told local outlets. “So I probably fell 20 feet, and then hit my face on the rocks, and then fell again and again and again.”
The tumble left her with a severely injured right leg, and she recalled staying conscious throughout the entire ordeal. The jagged rocks cut her face and body as she fell. But despite the brutal impact, she survived.
Zion The Dog Stayed By Her Side
While Cohen battled the pain of her leg injury, Zion never left her side—even though he too was hurt. The loyal dog suffered a paw injury during the fall but stayed next to Cohen until first responders arrived.
Her two friends immediately called for help after witnessing the fall. Cohen said it took two hours before they were finally airlifted to safety. Rescue crews lifted both her and Zion from the rocky slope and transported them to a hospital.
