Jazlene Jones, 14, and her boyfriend Elia Olson were walking down railroad tracks near the city to smoke on Sunday when she told him she wanted to end their relationship. Olson allegedly demanded she turns off her phone and then pointed a white revolver at her head, firing one shot. Jones begged for her life, but Olson told her she “had to die” and fired two or three more shots before fleeing as reported by MSN.

Jones was able to flag down a passing driver for assistance and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to investigators, she had three gunshot wounds in her head, one of which entered through her cheekbone. The bullet was lodged in her neck, close to her carotid artery, and she was able to identify Olson as the shooter, according to police.

“As many of you know Jazlene was a victim to a senseless act of violence that almost took her life. A young man took her life into his own hands and shot her 5 times in her head. At 14 years old, this baby will now have to go through life through one eye and live with bullets in her neck and head. She went through a major surgery and has more procedures to come. She is living proof of God’s miracles and has a long road to recovery. Due to this unforeseen circumstance her mom Miranda will have to  stop working to be Jazlene’s caretaker and is also a single mom of three. Please consider helping her mother Miranda in any way you can. Prayers are always appreciated. “

After Olson was arrested at a friend’s house, he reportedly told police that he shot his girlfriend because of a Snapchat post and a potential breakup. During the arrest, police discovered a.22 handgun and two magazines for a 9mm handgun. Additionally, investigators found blood-covered clothes and shoes at his home.

Olson was held on a $500,000 cash bond and a judge ordered him to stay away from Jones, her home, family, and friends. On Tuesday, he was charged as an adult for attempted murder and possession of a dangerous weapon.
