Wisconsin Elections Commission Votes To Keep Kanye West OFF The Presidential Ballot
On Thursday, the Wisconsin Elections Commission voted to keep Kanye West off the general election presidential ballot after determining the hip hop star had filed late. It’s the same move that keeps the rapper from potentially competing in November.

As CNN notes, the decision was made following the 5-1 vote which came after commission’s staff released a Tuesday report concluding that West and his running mate, Michelle Tidball, had not filed nomination papers on time, by 5 p.m. on Aug. 4.
Under Wisconsin state law, candidates must file nomination papers “not later” than 5 p.m. However, West’s attorney, Michael Curran, tried to argue that the campaign had until 5:01 p.m. to file. Jeffrey Mandell, an attorney for Wisconsin’s Democratic Party, said the evidence is clear that West’s team filed the papers late, and “they cannot be allowed.”
“Five o’clock is five o’clock,” Republican Commissioner Dean Knudson said. “Maybe I’m just common sense and not a lawyer,” CNN quotes.”
The news site reports that Republican Robert Spindell was the only commissioner to vote in favor of West. He believes that West should be given the opportunity.
Now, despite these setback, Kanye West is still committed to running for President. The 42-year-old has been promoting his campaign all over social media. He recently congratulated Kamala Harris who was nominated as Joe Biden’s running mate. Kanye told Senator Harris: “I look forward to running against you.“
