Heated Argument Escalates

On January 28, 2024, at a Wingstop location in Port St. Lucie, Florida, an altercation broke out between a 19-year-old manager, Carnael Irene, and two female customers. The New York Post reported surveillance footage captured the heated dispute behind the counter. As tensions escalated, Irene allegedly squirted ranch dressing at the customers multiple times while another employee tried to hold her back. In response, the customers retaliated by throwing straws over the counter.

Moments later, Irene reappeared in the frame—this time holding a metal pan filled with cooking oil. She then allegedly hurled the hot oil directly at the two women. One of the most alarming aspects of the footage shows Irene shoving another employee out of the way before launching the attack.

Port St. Lucie police officers quickly arrived at the scene and discovered the victims suffering from burn injuries. One of the victims was identified as a minor, according to an official police statement. Irene was immediately arrested and now faces criminal charges, which include aggravated child abuse and aggravated battery.

Irene later told police that the reason the altercation started because she was reportedly agitated with the customers being loud, disruptive, and calling her broke. It is unknown if she is still employed with WingStop.
