Willow Smith Says She’s ‘Proud’ Of Mom Jada For Opening Up About Relationship With August Alsina
“Red Table Talk” returned this Monday with Jada Pinkett Smith, daughter Willow Smith, Jada’s mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and world-renowned expert Brene Brown, where they all discussed the topic of vulnerability. During their conversation, the ladies all went around to share a time they felt the most vulnerable.
Jada Pinkett-Smith brought up her “Red Table Talk” session with husband Will Smith where the two discussed her relationship with singer August Alsina. As we previously reported back in July, Pinkett confirmed that she and Will were on a break when she began seeing the R&B singer. Eventually, Alsina, 28, broke off contact with her, and she said she hasn’t heard from him since. The Smiths went on to reconcile and later got back together.
During Monday’s episode, Willow gave props to her mother for speaking out not only to clear the air but for working out such a complicated situation with her husband of over 20 years, while being in the spotlight.
“I want to put it on the table. I’m so proud of you. To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like, ‘OK, that’s the real deal,'” Willow shared. “That’s real love,” the 19-year-old said.
Jada described breaking her silence about their romance as “a full blast of, like, flaws, and feeling and just the total breakdown of any mask,” PEOPLE quotes. Willow shared what she learned from her parents after watching them handle this latest situation:
“Like, when you can be like, ‘I’m with you. I’m going to stand by you and I’m going to hold your hand’… that’s really important,'” the singer said.
