It’s good to see Mo’Nique back on the scene after she was accused of being difficult to work with. As we previously reported, Mo’nique and Tyler Perry had a public disagreement in 2019 regarding the way Mo’nique was treated by Hollywood executives after her Oscar win for her role in the movie “Precious.” Monique claimed that she was blackballed by Hollywood executives after she refused to promote the movie at various events without additional compensation.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Monique accused Tyler Perry of being complicit in her blacklisting and not standing up for her when she was going through a difficult time. She claimed that Perry had offered her a low-paying job on one of his projects and asked her to work for free during a phone conversation. Monique also criticized Perry for working with people who she believes had a hand in her being blacklisted.
Tyler Perry responded to Mo’nique’s accusations by saying that he respects her talent and believes that she deserves more opportunities in Hollywood. However, he also expressed his belief that Mo’nique had not handled her negotiations in a professional manner and that her approach may have contributed to her difficulties in finding work. Perry also denied Mo’nique’s claim that he had offered her a low-paying job and asked her to work for free.
The feud between Mo’nique and Tyler Perry continues to be a topic of discussion among fans and industry insiders, and it remains unclear whether the two have resolved their differences. Maybe she might address it all in her new standup.
Not only is she coming out with a Netflix special she is currently killing it on 50 Cents show BMF. Mo’nique’s performance on BMF is a testament to her versatility as an actress, as she seamlessly transitions between comedic and dramatic roles. Her work on the series has also cemented her status as one of the most talented and respected actresses in Hollywood today. #Socialites will you be tuned into her special?
