During her Destiny’s Child and early solo career days, Beyonce was open to doing public interviews

At the early stages of her career, Beyonce would describe her love for music and her hardworking ethic as her father Matthew Knowles used to manage the group since their Girls’ Time days. However, she dropped him as her manager in 2011 and acknowledged how he prepared her for stardom. “I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps,” she said in a statement.

The superstar said in a 2013  interview with GQ that her past interviews were described as “ineffective” and she understood that her words have power.

“I now know that, yes, I am powerful. I’m more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.”

Becoming a mother has changed her views on privacy and public access to her life

After the birth of her oldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in 2012, Beyonce’s private life became a subject of public fodder as there were many speculations about her pregnancy. There was an incident in 2011 when she was wearing a dress that made it seem like her stomach folded but she slammed the rumors.

“It was a fabric that folded – does fabric not fold? Oh my gosh, so stupid,”

There was also public scrutiny about Blue Ivy’s hair and comparisons to her father Jay-Z. However, after announcing her second pregnancy and birth to twin Sir and Rumi Carter, Beyonce mostly hid them from the public eye and they only made rare appearances in Instagram posts or one of her music videos.

When she posted a picture of the twins a month after their birth, the post earned over 10 million likes.

She became more candid through her music and other works

With works such as Lemonade and self-titled, Beyonce has been more open about her personal experiences and her joint album with husband Jay-Z, Everything is Love. The album discusses their entire relationship and marriage plus addresses rumors.  Additionally, Beyonce likes to be in control of every aspect of her career and personal life where she carefully curates everything down to her photoshoots and tour setups.

Recently, she released a statement about her upcoming album Renaissance where she wanted to create a safe space for fans and open up their creative feelings.

“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world,” Bey said. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
