On Monday’s episode of ABC’s talk show “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg weighed in on Joe Biden’s announcement to withdraw from the presidential race.

During the conversation, Goldberg expressed that she was frustrated with the way Biden’s fellow democrats pressured him to step down. “I would’ve preferred my Democrats to not do this publicly and in everybody’s face,” she said. “What it did was it had us sitting having to talk about this endlessly…I know the American people, regardless of who the nominee will be, it’s going to be up to the people.”

“The messaging that we have put out to people over a certain age is horrific. We have basically said, ‘Hey, you know what? We kind of think if you’re over a certain age, you don’t really have what it takes to do the job that you’re doing.’ That’s the messaging that we put out, I’m bored by hearing that,” Goldberg continued.

During the discussion, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously worked as an aide to Donald Trump, expressed her disagreement by highlighting the unique nature of the presidency compared to other roles. Co-host Sara Haines then made a point to differentiate between co-host Joy Behar, who is 81 years old, and President Biden, who is also 81.

“It’s not the number, it’s how the number looks on the person,” Haines said. Griffin also pointed out that being a host on “The View” was different from the job of the president.

“Again, it is saying to people of a certain age, because that’s what the messaging has been. ‘You’re old. You’re doddering.’ It really pissed me off. Not because I’m as close. But because I felt it was disrespectful,” Goldberg said.

As we previously reported on Sunday, President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, ending his reelection bid following a contentious debate with Donald Trump that cast doubts on his capability to lead.
