Whitney Houston Estate & Clive Davis Developing Biopic
While it feels like it’s been a long time coming, the Whitney Houston estate and Clive Davis have officially begun developing a biopic about the late music legend.
In addition to previously sharing Houston’s first posthumous single, “Higher Love” and teasing a hologram tour, the estate announced on Wednesday (Apr 22) that they’re partnering with the Arista Records label head, Davis, and former Arista employee Lawrence Mestel’s publishing and management company Primary Wave, which handles Houston’s catalog.

Davis shares, “From all my personal and professional experience with Whitney from her late teenage years to her tragic premature death, I know the full Whitney Houston story has not yet been told. I am so glad that Anthony McCarten has committed to a no holds barred, musically rich screenplay that finally reveals the whole Whitney whose vocal genius deeply affected the world while she fiercely battled the demons that were to be her undoing.”
Furthermore, the biopic looks to have The Photograph‘s Stella Meghie as director, with Bohemian Rhapsody‘s Anthony McCarten as screenplay.

Meanwhile, producers will include Pat Houston, on behalf of the legend’s estate, Davis, Mestel, McCarten, and Bohemian Rhapsody‘s Denis O’Sullivan.
