White Woman Charged For Assaulting Girl Whom She Claimed Stole Her Mail

A white South Carolina woman has been charged for reportedly assaulting an 11-year-old black girl after sge claims the girl stole her mail.

According to the Augusta Chronicle, Elizabeth Shirey, 38, “aggressively” approached Skhylur Davis, while she was retrieving her grandmother’s mail on May 11.

“Mrs. Shirey happens to see this young child by her mailbox and proceeds to come out of her home, yell at this 11-year-old girl,” the family lawyer, Justin Bamberg, said. “Mrs. Shirey runs aggressively towards this 11-year-old child accusing her of committing a felony, stealing her mail.”

Shirey allegedly grabbed the young girl by her arms and pulled on them.

Skhylur said that Shirey’s husband, Justin Shirey said that the incident wouldn’t have occurred if she was a different “type.”

“You don’t have to think about what type he meant,” she added.

Shirey reportedly apologized to the girl after seeing noticing address on the mail.

She then gave her cookies, “as though that makes things better,” Bamberg added.

Elizabeth Shirey has been charged with third-degree assault and battery for the incident.

“I hope she learns that you can’t do that to people because I’m just as much a human being as you are too. So, this isn’t right,” said Skhylur Davis.
