White Man Dressed As ‘Joker’ Arrested For Setting Fire To Cop Cars
A man has been arrested for taking on the “Joker” role to cause havoc in the city of Chicago amidst peaceful protests for George Floyd.
According to a criminal complaint, Timothy O’Donnell, 31, was arrested and charged for dressing as the Batman’s arch nemesis the ‘Joker’. He reportedly threw something into a cop car’s gas tank and set it on fire.
“On or about May 30, 2020, an individual, later identified as defendant TIMOTHY O’DONNELL, approached a Chicago Police Department (“CPD”) vehicle parked on the 200 block of North State Street in Chicago. A video provided to law enforcement by a witness captured the events described below. The video initially shows O’DONNELL, who was wearing a “joker” mask that partially covered his face, hold a lit object and place it in the gas tank of the CPD vehicle. A photograph below taken by a witness shows O’DONNELL handling the CPD vehicle’s gas tank.”
Images mirrored moments from the motion picture as O’Donnell was pictured walking away from the flames. He was quickly identified due to a tattoo and arrested.
Police also discovered a ‘Joker’ mask from his room.
“O’Donnell admitted that he was the person wearing the ‘joker’ mask in the photos,” the complaint added.
He faces one count of arson, which can lead to 20 years in prison.
“Anyone involved in destructive behavior — such as setting fire to a police car — should know that federal law enforcement will use all tools available to us to hold them accountable,” said US Attorney John R. launch in a statement.
