#Socialites, get into this: Eric Adams is the latest public figure to weigh in on the horrific video that shows business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016.
During an interview with local station Pix11 News, the Mayor stated that his administration is carefully analyzing the situation and exploring all options… even considering taking back Diddy’s key to the city.
When asked if he would rescind Diddy’s key to the city, Adams responded, “I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him. The committee and the team have never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”
Diddy was given the keys to New York last year on Friday (Sept. 15), the same day that he released his first studio album in 17 years. At the time, the Mayor praised him for being “the embodiment of the New York City attitude. A son of Harlem, Combs worked his way to the top, becoming a successful musical talent both in front of and behind the mic. Despite all of his successes, Sean has never forgotten where he came from.”
Eric Adams noted that he and his team will take their time to make a final determination on this matter. As of now, there is no set date for when a decision will be reached.

To note, the key to the city holds only symbolic power and does not grant any actual access to locks or doors. Other notable key holders include the Women’s National Soccer Team, the late performer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte, and the late 9/11 first-responder advocate Detective Luis Alvarez.
More On Diddy’s Legal Problems:
Diddy, who is currently under federal investigation and facing numerous allegations of abuse and sexual assault, has since publicly apologized for his behavior in the video.
In a Sunday post he said, “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” the music mogul said in a video statement posted to Instagram and Facebook.
As the committee continues to deliberate, the fate of Diddy’s career, reputation and the key to the city remains uncertain.
