Complex’s Hip Hop Media Power list recently dropped and rapper turned-podcaster Joe Budden came in at No. 1. While many social media agree that he existed deserving of the top ranking due to his controversial episodes, some people didn’t think it was very fitting. It

As we previously reported, during the latest episode of the New Rory & Mal Podcast, the duo ripped their former co-host. “The thief!” Mal exclaimed. “The cat burglar. Big integrity … look at the cat burglar staring off into the next house he wants to run in.

“That’s big cat! Quiet as a mouse. I’m keeping my non-bias the way I have this entire time,” Rory added. “I didn’t wanna defend Adam22, nor do I wanna defend this gentleman, but he should be in the Top 5, and that’s based off what Hip Hop media is now. So I’m not sure if I’m giving a compliment right now by saying I think these people should be in the Top 5.”

Budden eventually caught wind of their comments and responded on his own podcast, calling his former colleagues the “bare minimum” boys.

Budden began, “To whom this may concern, this is not even on page one of the manual, ’cause you n***as ain’t in the bookstore. Instead of critiquing people’s placement on this list, we need more critiquing on why you’re not on it. To everyone not on it, shut the fuck up. There’s some steps that you n***as have missed.” Now y’all know that wasn’t all he had to say:

“To whom it may concern, stop holding a microphone. I’m just giving out podcast advice. It’s certain n***as, y’all can’t speak to me, y’all didn’t do the work yet. You didn’t go to the bookstore.”

“Hire the editors. Get people to help,” he advised Rory and Mal. “Invest in the staff. Pay the staff. Get more staff. Stop check chasing. Stop doing the bare minimum and expecting that to yield results. You n***as are the bare minimum boys.”

More On Their Relationship

The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal came to an abrupt end back in May when host Joe Budden fired Rory on-air during Episode 437: “You Want It To Be One Way.” They had disputes over finances but big egos also played a part in the trio’s demise.

“Y’all will not continue to treat me this way,” Budden said at the time of their firing. “Y’all not going to continue to treat these people this way. Y’all take that fuckin’ dark energy, that arrogance, and entitlement somewhere else. I say all of that to say, we gonna do this since Rory feels like he has so many options.

“Somehow he still feels he’s running the show. He still feels like he has choices and options. He feels like he’s entitled to more. Rory, you are in breach of your contract and from this point forward, you are fired! And you’re not welcome back.”

Despite not being on Joe Budden’s pod and more, that didn’t stop Mal and Rory from doing what they enjoy. The duo went on to lunch their own podcast which seems to be doing well.
