‘Wendy Williams Show’ Staff Warned Host About Mean Comments Prior To Posting Feet With Lymphedema
After first revealing her diagnosis in 2019, this week, Wendy Williams shared to social media a photo of her feet, which suffer from lymphedema—a type of swelling that typically occurs in the arms or legs and is related to changes in your lymphatic system. Back in 2019, Wendy said, “Lymphedema, by the way, I’ve been diagnosed,” she explained in response to recent paparazzi photos showing her with swollen ankles. “It’s not going to kill me, but I do have a machine — and how dare you talk about the swelling of it all. It’s lymphedema. I’ve got it under control.”
While taking to her social media this week with her awareness-driven photo, Wendy captioned the post, “My Dr. Laure is the French lady who’s helping me live with lymphedema. She scrubs & understands my disease is not curable only manageable. Oh yes I’m wearing a sequin dress why not?! #lymphedema.” Following her reveal, fans left mixed reviews of trolling, but also of them opening up about their own struggles with the disease, and more.

Wendy then ended up addressing the hooplah on her show, admitting that her team warned her that social media would be harsh and leave disparaging comments—but that didn’t stop her! She says hours after back and forth with her staff, the post finally went up. She then acknowledges that “the exact opposite happened,” noting that many fans were curious about any pain and discomfort she felt, plus others who revealed their own experiences with lymphedema.
