#FREEWENDY! Wendy Williams‘ guardian is accused of “draining” her as she reportedly never knew she was paying $25,000 a month in rent at her assisted living facility, which she’s publicly deemed a “luxury dump.” Instead, she reportedly thought the rent was $18,000 a month.

According to Page Six, the 61-year-old former talk show host found out how much she was paying for her assisted living facility apartment through her own press coverage. A source told the publication that Williams has been so far removed from the details about her own finances.
The source claimed Williams never fully knew all about her rental costs at the Coterie until she read about it in New York Magazine’s ‘The Cut’ this past week. This past week, Williams graced the cover of The Cut. The October 6-published article featured the title, ‘Wendy Williams Wants Out.’ The subtitle reads, “Trapped in a high-end dementia facility, the former talk-show host is campaigning for freedom. It may not matter.”
The article continues to take a deep dive into her current guardianship, and the global campaign to free herself from her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. The elder-care attorney has been making headlines for years, ever since a court placed Williams in her guardianship in 2022. Morrissey has faced more criticism than praise, especially amid Williams’ “Free Wendy” movement.
In addition to covering Williams’ guardian, ‘The Cut’ piece also sheds light on some of her finances. This includes the alleged $25,000 per month rent she pays for her studio at the Coterie, which Williams herself calls a “luxury dump.”
Wendy Williams Reportedly Kept In Dark About Finances, Doesn’t Know How Much She’s Worth And Given ‘$200-$300’ Weekly Allowance
Page Six reports that a close source to Williams told them she truly believed that she was only paying $18,000 a month for her rental. The source said, “She believes Sabrina is draining her money. She doesn’t even know how much she’s worth.”
After learning about the hefty $25,000 price tag, the source said Williams has become increasingly anxious and concerned about her finances. Furthermore, the source states that Williams reportedly is not allowed to earn any income under her guardian.

Additionally, all of the lawsuits and lawyer fees involving Williams, including Morrissey’s fees, only further complicate things. The source added, “She’s very concerned about it. She was told ’18’ [thousand], and now she’s reading it’s ’25.’ They’re draining her money. Like, why ‘$25k/mo’ for a studio at the Coterie? She’s furious!”
The source continued to add that Williams is also oblivious about her travel fees. Reportedly, she doesn’t know how much she’s spending in Uber and taxi fees whenever she is even allowed to leave the facility for dinner or other events around New York City. The source alleged Williams is only given an allowance of “$200-300 a week.” She reportedly uses that to “buy Twizzlers and magazines.”

More On Wendy Williams’ Legal Battles And Lawsuits
Elsewhere, Page Six reports that Williams will testify next month in a lawsuit Morrissey filed against A&E and Lifetime. In the case, Morrissey accuses the defendants of airing the damaging documentary, ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?‘ without her consent.
As for the $250 million lawsuit Williams’ ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed in June, that has since been dismissed. At the time, Hunter stepped up to demand his ex’s release from her guardianship. However, TMZ recently reported that a judge tossed the case. On October 9, the publication reported that the judge denied Hunter’s motion. However, the judge left him able to refile the case, which Williams previously deemed a money grab.
