Wendy Williams Reportedly Considering Podcast Offers, Hopes To Sign A Deal Similar To Joe Rogan’s $100 Million Spotify Contract

While Wendy Williams still plans to return to daytime television later this year, it’s been reported that the former radio personality is also considering the idea of potentially fronting her very own podcast. According to OK! Magazine, Wendy has been offered many lucrative deals but hasn’t finalized anything yet because she’s hopeful of receiving a proposal to the tune of $100 million, similar to how much Spotify offered Joe Rogan to bring The Joe Rogan Experience to its platform.

Helming her own podcast would be ideal for someone like Wendy, who became one of the biggest radio jockeys during her two-decade-long career in radio, with a source telling the publication, “She sees Joe Rogan has a $100 million podcast deal, and now she wants that kind of money. They like the wild cards, but even at Spotify, they don’t give you the money unless you prove yourself first, and Wendy wants money upfront.”

There’s clearly no denying that Wendy can attract a strong viewership, having hosted The Wendy Williams Show from 2008 up until she was forced to step away in late 2021 to focus on her health. Still, for 13 years, Wendy took pride in the fact that she was always ready to work, and it showed based on how successful her Emmy-nominated syndicated program became. So the idea of taking on her own podcast could quite possibly be the next big step in her evolving career.

Back in February, Wendy’s spokesperson gave a statement, saying that she “understands” the business decision following the news that The Wendy Williams Show had officially been canceled after 14 years. It was revealed on the same day that Sherri Shepherd would be filling in to take over her slot in the fall when the Chicago native kicks off the launch of her own talk show.

“It’s been a challenging time for Wendy as she deals with her health issues,” Howard said. “She is incredibly grateful to Debmar-Mercury, to Sherri and everybody else who has supported the show through this time. She, more than anyone, understands the reality of syndicated television — you can’t go to the marketplace and sell a show that’s the Maybe Wendy Show.”

The Wendy Williams Show will officially conclude in June. On May 7, the mother-of-one spoke out in an interview with Fat Joe on how things would move forward for her career now that her program is coming to an end. When asked by the rapper whether she would bring the show back or focus her attention on something new, she responded, “I’m coming back to The Wendy Williams Show. Absolutely. Absolutely.”

Asked whether she would be watching Sherri’s show once it airs at the end of the year, Wendy expressed, “I like her, but I won’t be watching her. Because I know what she’s going to be doing, and that’s really not my thing.”
