Wendy Williams has been granted permission to travel to Miami to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday. Wendy will be permitted to stay in Miami for two days after a judge has authorized private security to accompany her from New York City.

Wendy will be escorted back to New York City, where she is confined in a studio apartment at an assisted living facility, following her two-day stay in Miami, according to TMZ. The court-appointed lawyer, Linda Redlisky, was reportedly fired by Wendy two days before the ruling. She allegedly neglected to submit the necessary paperwork to start a trial to determine whether Wendy needed guardianship, which led to her termination.

The guardianship has come under fire for restricting Wendy’s fundamental liberties, and now the judge has decided she cannot communicate with the media anymore. In past interviews, Wendy stated that she was taking the required actions to spend time with her family and would like to visit her father on his birthday.

“I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison. This is what is called emotional abuse,” she told the Breakfast Club two weeks ago.

Her guardianship judge, Lisa Sokolff, was previously under investigation over campaign donations that were reportedly snagged from other attorneys, law firms, and other groups. Between 2019 and 2022, Sokolff allegedly granted guardianships to people and organizations that contributed to her Supreme Court campaign.

Additionally, after Wendy’s son, Kevin Hunter Jr., was accused of spending over $300,000 on his mother’s case, she revoked his power of attorney. He added that Wendy’s appointed estate administration lawyer, Sabrina Morrissey, threatened to have him arrested.
