Dr. Wendy Osefo’s Career Takes A Major Hit Amid Fraud Allegations

More troubling news for The Real Housewives of Potomac star Dr. Wendy Osefo—she and her husband Eddie Osefo were hit with fraud charges last Friday, and now, she’s also been let go from her university position.

According to TMZ, Wesleyan University confirmed Tuesday that “Wendy Osefo is no longer an employee of Wesleyan University.” She had served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Sociology before her sudden dismissal.
Besides her Wesleyan gig in Connecticut, Wendy was previously a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland before stepping down in 2024.

Known for her academic achievements, she holds degrees from Temple University and Johns Hopkins, plus a Ph.D. in public affairs and community development from Rutgers University.

Wendy Osefo and Husband Eddie Face Multiple Fraud Charges

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Wendy and her husband Eddie are facing 16 charges, including seven felonies tied to allegedly committing fraud over $300, and one misdemeanor for making a false statement to an officer.

These charges stem from an incident last year when the couple told police their home was burglarized after returning from a trip to Jamaica. According to the prosecution’s bail recommendation, Wendy and Eddie claimed that multiple designer bags and jewelry were stolen during the break-in.
However, Carroll County sheriff’s deputies alleged Wendy was later seen in a social media post flaunting a diamond ring she had reported stolen. That revelation added major tension to the couple’s legal situation, raising questions about whether they fabricated the robbery.

Wendy’s Legal Drama Echoes Recent ‘RHOP’ Scandals

The Osefos’ situation comes right after ‘RHOP’ castmate Karen Huger was released from jail last month following a six-month stint of her one-year sentence for back-to-back DUIs. It seems this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac is turning into a courtroom saga rather than a reality show.

Wendy’s firing and fraud charges hit just as the tenth season of ‘RHOP’ premiered on October 5, making the timing even wilder. Fans online are divided—some shocked, others calling it karma for her past on-screen feuds.
