The city of Boston recently paid tribute to one of music’s biggest personalities, declaring April 2nd as “Cardi B Day” in honor of Cardi B. The special recognition came as the Bronx-born rapper made a stop in the city for her Little Miss Drama Tour, turning an already exciting visit into a historic moment.
The declaration was led by City Councilor Julia Mejia, who officially announced the honor as a celebration of Cardi B’s cultural impact and influence. During her time in the city, Cardi was surprised with a commemorative plaque
Mejia later shared a video capturing the sweet exchange, along with a powerful message highlighting why the rapper deserved such recognition. She wrote:
“Mission accomplished! Beyond honored to present @iamcardib with an official resolution declaring April 2nd, 2026 “Cardi B Day” in the City of Boston. Cardi represents excellence at the highest level, and demonstrates that we can show up as we are in #AllMeansAll spaces & places, and thrive.”
She continued,
“Thank you for being an inspiration to so many, and for using your platform to amplify voices and stories that go often unheard.”
Cardi B, clearly touched by the gesture, responded with gratitude while also acknowledging the cultural significance behind the moment. She said, “I love that the city council of Boston is a Dominican woman’. We have a really big Dominican community out in Boston, Lawrence; especially Massachusetts as a whole.”
Her words reflected not only appreciation for the honor, but also pride in the shared cultural roots that connect her to many of her fans in Massachusetts.
Adding a personal touch to the celebration, Cardi also shared what she hopes people will do every year on April 2nd in honor of “Cardi B Day,” encouraging fans to embrace the spirit of confidence, authenticity, and community that she represents.
With this official recognition, Boston joins a growing list of cities celebrating influential artists who have shaped culture beyond music. For Cardi B, the day stands as a testament to her journey, her voice, and the communities she continues to uplift.
