Earlier this week, Octavia Spencer finally got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actress was surrounded by fans and even celebrity friends who gathered to celebrate her well-deserved moment.
While there, Spencer was praised by fellow actor Will Ferrell. During his speech, the heartwarming moment was interrupted by a man on the street who started yelling loudly about how the event was “celebrating rich people.”
Let’s just say Mr. Ferrell was NOT having it. “Not on Octavia’s day!,” he shouted, before adding, “Keep it moving. The wax museum’s down there. That thing is wide open.” The man kept his heckling going and so did Ferrell with his jokes. “He’s got powerful lungs. He’s using his diaphragm,’ he joked, ehich got some laughs from the crowd. ‘Louder, please. They can’t hear you in Alhambra. Is that guy up next? Is he supposed to speak? Sweatpants weirdo, is he up here? Should I just go tackle him?’”
According to local reports, the man appeared to be wasted.
Aside from that, Spencer made sure to thank family members, her team, and everyone who supported her during her journey in entertainment.
“If you happen upon my star, while mine will be the only name you see, remember all the names that I just named, the people that I just named today. My Village,” she said. “They’re only a fraction of the people that guide me from behind the scenes. For me, this isn’t a solitary achievement. For me, it took my family, my tribe, my village, and I thank you.”
One day after being presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, Octavia Spencer opened up about her great friendship Ferrell.
“I can tell you that Will is definitely not an adult elf,” The Help star joked, in a reference to his role as “Buddy the Elf” in the hit Christmas comedy film Elf (2003), as a guest on People's Every Day podcast. Despite his load of jokes, Spencer went on to call Ferrell “one of the smartest people I've ever worked with.”
