It’s been a few days since Megan Thee Stallion dropped her great new song and people can’t stop talking about it, including the rapper herself!

In the lyrics of “Cobra,” Meg shows brave vulnerability as she details some of the struggles she’s had with her mental health over the last four years while still processing the deaths of her parents. She raps, “Breakin’ down and I had the whole world watchin’ / But the worst part is really who watched me / Every night I cried, I almost died / And nobody close tried to stop it.” She goes on to speak with even more raw vulnerability: “Man, I miss my parents, way too anxious, always cancel my plans / Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d*** sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’ / Lord, give me a break, I don’t know how much more of this s*** I can take.” Along with her lyrics, the Douglas Bernardt-directed visual displays Megan literally shedding her skin. Since releasing the song and music video on Friday, it’s had a ton of positive reactions.

While recently hopping on Live, Megan Thee Stallion talked briefly with her fans and shared how she feels since opening up to the world. She said, “I feel like I’m giving peace, love, tranquility.” She went on to say, “I’m happy, I’m amazing” before encouraging her fans to keep running up her latest single. “I’m so happy Cobra is out and Hotties do your big one, go in!”

Those who followed everything that’s been going on with Meg over the last few years have a better understanding of her lyrics. In addition to losing her parents, she also had to go through the traumatizing experience of being shot by her former friend Tory Lanez. After years of being trolled, she finally got the justice she deserved.

As we previously reported, the legal saga with Lanez came to an end in August after he was sentenced to 10 years for shooting Megan in the foot following a 2020 party at Kylie Jenner’s home.

Reacting to the sentencing, she addressed a crowd at a show in August and slammed those who didn’t initially believe her and accused her of lying: “I just wanna say, f— all my haters,” she said. “None of that s— you was doing or saying broke me. None of that s— y’all be doing or saying to the Hotties broke them.”

To add to some of the drama, Megan also recently split from her boyfriend Pardison and seemingly accused him of cheating in her new song.

Aside from that, fans online have been praising Meg for her bravery and for putting everything on the table in the best way she knows how; through her music.

In support of Megan Thee Stallion, Claudia Jordan said, “Cobra is the best song, video, concept, and message I’ve witnessed in a very long time. A song hasn’t made me FEEL like that one did/does in ages. @theestallion you really did your big one with that. Felt every single word and got emo several times. Praying you found peace 💜💯🙏 Another person tweeted, “My fav thing about Megan’s music is that I’m able to do either of 2 things while I’m listening. I can 1, go crazy while rapping the words or 2, sit back & really listen to the words that she’s spitting. W/ #COBRA  she told a REAL story! This is truly one of her best. 😮‍💨” A third said, “I hate talking bout charts, but I find it impressive how #Cobra is performing well without multiple versions, mass buying group-chats & paid blog promotions. Megan is gonna be the one that brings back organic chart positions for female rappers once this is all said & done.”
