In a heartwarming display of support and kindness, Kim Kardashian has reached out to Nina Wiley, a shooting victim whose story went viral after she credited a SKIMS bodysuit with saving her life. The unexpected gesture came in the form of a video message from Kim herself, which is set to air on an upcoming episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Nina Wiley’s traumatic account of being shot captivated audiences as she shared her harrowing experience on the show. More On What Happened

As we previously reported, the 22-year-old was shot four times following a party on New Year’s Eve. She told host Jennifer Hudson that she believes her SKIMS shapewear protected her during the wild incident.

“I think I got a size too small, but it’s supposed to do the job,” Wiley said. “Not only did it help with compression when I did get shot, but it completely changed where the bullet even landed in me,” she explained. The young student who suffered a fractured pelvis and ruptured bladder added that “because the doctors were saying how…the bullets could have really killed me. People die from getting shot once, I got shot four times.”

Recalling the traumatic event, Wiley went on to say that “so much could have gone wrong” for her and said that she believes her SKIMS shapewear played “such a huge part in keeping me alive.” She continued, “Especially because the ambulance took so long to get to me. And doctors will tell you that the first thing that they do in situations like this is apply pressure — and I already have it on lock.”

How Has Her Recovery Process Been Since The Shooting?

Speaking with the singer, Wiley admitted that the process overall has been “overwhelming.”

“Going from being just being a regular 22-year-old girl and then one day you wake up and it’s like, you can’t use the bathroom, you can’t walk. Everything is so different. Especially because the first few months, I’m so focused on physically recovering. And so it wasn’t until so many months later that I could even think about recovering, like, my mental.”

Since going viral over her incident, Wiley has seen an outpouring of love and support and now thanks to Kim it’s just more motivation for her to keep continuing to recover.
