Donald Trump is currently trending over a never-before-seen clip that was played by The House committee investigating the insurrection plans. The newly released video that was presented during Thursday’s hearing shows then-President Donald Trump having difficulty working through efforts to tape a message to his supporters on January 7, 2021, the day after the Capitol riot.

The Washington Post previously reported that the former president stubbornly refused attempts by staff to get him to condemn the rioters in the taped message/statement from the White House on Jan. 7. Per the outlet, “over the course of an hour of trying to tape the message, Trump resisted holding the rioters to account, trying to call them patriots, and refused to say the election was over.”

The Jan. 6 committee held its eighth public hearing Thursday which was the latest in a series of high-profile productions that played out the case that the deadly riot was the result of then-President Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. That hearing focused on what happened during the 187 minutes between Trump’s speech, during which he allegedly encouraged supporters to march to the Capitol, and the his tweet encouraging rioters to go back home.

Earlier this year on the anniversary of the Capitol riots, former President Trump is released fiery speech and took a dig at Biden. He said,

“Biden used my name today to try to further divide America.” He added that Biden “is destroying our nation with insane policies of open borders, corrupt elections, disastrous energy policies, unconstitutional mandates, and devastating school closures.” Trump went on to label Biden’s speech a “political theater” and “a distraction from the fact that Biden has completely and totally failed,” The Hill reports. Trump then said, “Our Country no longer has Borders, has totally and completely lost control of Covid (record numbers!), is no longer Energy Independent, Inflation is rampant, our Military is in chaos, and our exit, or surrender, from Afghanistan was perhaps the most embarrassing day in the long and distinguished history of the United States—and so much more.”

“Why is it that the Unselect Committee of totally partisan political hacks, whose judgment has long ago been made, not discussing the rigged Presidential Election of 2020? It’s because they don’t have the answers or justifications for what happened. They got away with something, and it is leading to our Country’s destruction.”

What Did Biden Have To Say?

At the time, President Biden also released a statement on the anniversary where he called out former President Donald Trump for attempting to undo American democracy.

He said at the time, “For the first time in our history, a president had not just lost an election. He tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power as a violent mob reached the Capitol,” Biden said in a speech from the US Capitol. “But they failed. They failed. And on this day of remembrance, we must make sure that such an attack never, never happens again.” Now, in a direct shot at Trump, Biden added, “His bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our Constitution. He can’t accept he lost.”
