Watch: Basketball Star Josh Giddey Declines To Comment On Alleged Minor Dating Scandal

On Friday, Josh Giddey faced the media for the first time since the NBA launched an investigation into allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

The 21-year-old rising star Oklahoma City Thunder star stepped up for interviews with reporters following practice. Immediately he was asked about the allegations made against him. One reporter said: “Josh, you went viral over the past couple of days over some pretty serious allegations. I know nothing is concrete there, but is there anything you can say as to that situation?”

The Australian NBA star replied: “Yeah, I mean I understand the question obviously, but, err, there’s no further comment right now.”

Coach Mark Daigneault had a similar reaction when he was asked about the actuation.
“Personal matter,” he said, “and I have no comment on it. And that will be my answer on anything related.”

As we previously reported, in a since-deleted post, an anonymous social media user said a girl who is seen with Giddey in videos and pictures was a high school junior at the time. In one snap the selfie reads, “I just f*cked Josh Giddey.” The social media account has since been deactivated.

Who is Josh Giddey?

Giddey, is one of the league’s top young guards and emerged as a potential All-Star last season with 28 double-doubles and five triple-doubles while averaging 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists and shooting 48.2% from the field, USA Today reports.

He was selected sixth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Thunder, and is currently averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Giddey was previously named to the NBA’s All-Rookie second team in 2021-2022.

At the 2023 FIBA World Cup, he also played for Australia and was given the Rising Star Award for his performance.
