Washington Post Reporter Suspended After Sharing This Tweet About Kobe Bryant
In the middle of millions mourning the loss of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, Washington Post reporter Felicia Sonmez shared a distasteful tweet, and now she has been suspended for what people are labeling a “reckless move.”

According to Fox News, Sonmez tweeted the 2016 story about the 2003 rape allegations from The Daily Beast. The headline read, “Kobe Bryant’s Disturbing Rape Case: The DNA Evidence, the Accuser’s Story, and the Half-Confession,” — just as details of the helicopter crash were still coming out. Sonmez tried to clarify her tweet by saying,
“Any public figure is worth remembering in their totality… even if that public figured is beloved and that totality unsettling,” Sonmez wrote. “That folks are responding with rage & threats toward me… speaks volumes about the pressure people come under to stay silent in these cases.”
However, people were still furious and demanded the Post to let her go. According to the latest updates, The Washington Post has placed the political reporter on administrative leave over the tweets. The paper said her comments “displayed poor judgment that undermined the work of her colleagues.”
As we previously reported, the 41-year-old legend died with his 13-year-old daughter along with seven others Sunday morning in a helicopter crash. Heavy fog is said to be the cause of the crash. However, that report by TMZ was not officially confirmed by law enforcement sources.
