Waffle House Employee Reveals She Had No Choice But To Take Baby To Work Following Online Backlash

The woman who faced backlash online after being seen on video holding a baby while at work, is speaking out to share why she had absolutely no other choice.

While talking with TMZ, Tiffany Clark — the employee in the TikTok vid and mother of 4 — said she was working the overnight shift at a South Carolina Waffle House last weekend when she got a call about a desperate family situation. Tiffany said the baby that she was holding is her 4-month-old niece Octavia, daughter of her brother, who recently died.

The baby’s grandmother asked her to take the baby immediately because the child’s mother was about to be hospitalized for mental illness. Tiffany told the news site that the only other option was for the baby to end up in the custody of child services and she wasn’t going to let that happen, so she decided to take her to work. Tiffany says after the video went viral, she got a call from her boss, and after explaining the entire situation she got suspended for a week.

Tiffany makes it clear that she was never cooking food with baby Octavia in her arms as it appears. She was just preparing plates for servers. She adds that she was only behind the counter with the child for a split second that was caught on video.

While she waits to hear back from her job, Tiffany says she plans to become her niece’s legal guardian to provide a safe and happy home for Octavia while her mother gets the right help, TMZ notes.
