The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards were held in New York City. Megan Thee Stallion hosted the star-studded event, and Katy Perry received the Video Vanguard Award.

The night started with an exciting opening performance by Eminem, who was joined on stage with Jelly Roll. Other performers included GloRilla, Chappell Roan, Lenny Kravitz, and Sabrina Carpenter. 

Taylor Saift had ten nominations for the black-and-white music video for “Fortnight,” the lead single from her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department”. Post Malone, featured on the track, followed closely behind her with nine nominations. VMA host Megan Thee Stallion earned five nominations, while Sabrina Carpenter entered the ceremony with six nominations, alongside Eminem and Ariana Grande.

Swift emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, taking home the Moonman for Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. She also secured the win for Video of the Year. Sabrina Carpenter claimed Song of the Year with “Espresso,” while Eminem’s “Houdini” won Best Hip-Hop and Best Visual Effects. Tyla’s “Water” secured a win for Best Afrobeats. 


The night celebrated not only the year’s biggest names in music but also an eclectic mix of genres, collaborations, and artistic achievements across the industry. With standout performances and significant wins, this year’s VMAs continued to showcase the evolving landscape of global music.
