Vivica A. Fox Defends Amber Rose After After Backlash Over Biracial Comments: “She’s Been In Plenty Of Black Spaces… Leave That Child Alone”
Amber Rose has been receiving some backlash online over her recent comments about being biracial. While many have been quick to criticize her, other people seemed to understand where she’s coming from, including Fox Soul’s Vivica A. Fox.
In a recent episode of Cocktails with Queens, the ladies weighed in on Amber Rose’s big fight with Joseline Hernandez on the BET show, “College Hill: Celebrity Edition.” The girls got into a heated debate about race before things turned physical. Apparently, the fight was so bad that the network decided not to show the full scene out of respect for the viewers and the HBCU. Despite that, a moment of the fight still made its rounds online and sparked Rose to speak out on being biracial, which some felt was tone-deaf. From there, social media users found an old interview clip of Rose where she says “I do not consider myself a Black woman, absolutely not.” Of course, she received even more online backslash.
While discussing Rose and her comments, Actress Lisa Raye kicked off the conversation by saying, “So we know she likes being in Black spaces… we do know that bout her.” She went on to ask the other hosts, “So how do y’all feel about the backlash she’s been receiving lately about her identification?” Fox replied, “Well I’ve met Amber, flew on a flight with her back from Canada one day and she’s a lovely lady. I just hate when people go and want to reevaluate an interview… [leave] this child alone. She done been with… like Lisa Raye said… in plenty of Black spaces.
Syleena Johnson also defended Rose but was quick to remind her that she is BLACK! “Amber girl! The United States of America don’t care if you’re mixed girl. You Black.”

Following online criticism, Rose took to her Instagram Story to give an example of how difficult it is to explain to people that she’s mixed. The frustrated star ultimately told people to “pick a side.”

She followed up with another IG Story where she said, “Bruh the Internet is remedial as fuck. Y’all know exactly what I was saying as a mixed person about not fitting in anywhere on BOTH SIDES. Now y’all wanna act like I hate being in black spaces GTFOH! Then I’m wrong when I feel like the victim. The internet is trying to bully me because I’m BLACK AND WHITE ???? WTF IS WRONG WITH YALL???? I never denounced my blackness. I don’t understand where people are getting that from??? A 5-second clip??? WATCH THE WHOLE INTERVIEW !!!!!”
She continued, “Y’all really don’t fuck with me because I claim both sides of my family???
Just know…. you’re perpetuating hate, racism, and colorism, not me. That’s your problem, not mine. I’m not gonna apologize for being born. This is the last time I’m talking about race I’m BLACK AND WHITE (Mixed). That’s how I identify if you don’t like it you can suck my dick.” Before ending her rant she said, “Actually, I lied I’m from another planet f*ck y’all.”
Rose ended her rant by sharing multiple images of other biracial stars like Latto, Barack Obama, Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, and more.
