The man who drove his car through a group of protesters in Virginia is an “admitted leader of the Ku Klux Klan and a propagandist for Confederate ideology,” according to the Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

The driver, 36-year-old Harry H. Rogers of Hanover County, was recently arrested for driving through protesters marching in Henrico’s Lakeside neighborhood Sunday evening. One man was hit but did not have any serious injuries. Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor said in a statement,
“While I am grateful that the victim’s injuries do not appear to be serious, an attack on peaceful protesters is heinous and despicable and we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.”
The man is charged with attempted malicious wounding, felony vandalism, and assault and battery, and is being held without bond. He was arraigned in court on Monday morning, according to online court records.
Rogers’ next court hearing is scheduled for August 18.
People across the county have been protesting against police brutality following the tragic death of George Floyd. As we previously reported, he was killed after suffocating under the knee of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. All four officers involved have since been arrested and charged for his murder.
