On Wednesday, 32-year-old Isaiah Brown’s car broke down around 2:30 a.m. at a gas station several miles from his home on Route 3. The deputy offered to give Brown a ride home and minutes after he was dropped off, Brown called 911 because his brother wouldn’t let him into their mother’s room so he could take his car keys and other things as reported by NBC News. During the call, dispatchers indicated the call as a domestic disturbance due to Brown and his brother’s conversation on the phone.
The same deputy who dropped Brown off responded to the call around 3:19 a.m. and told him to “Drop the gun, Drop the gun now!” Brown’s attorney said the deputy mistook the cordless phone and fired 6-10 shots while he was still on the phone with the 911 dispatcher.

Sheriff Roger Harris said the deputy is currently on administrative leave as the case is under investigation by the special state prosecutor. Brown is currently “fighting for his life” due to the multiple gunshot wounds and there no further details on his condition.
