A video of a woman eating a bat went viral due to the animal playing a huge role in spreading the deadly coronavirus in China.
According to the New York Post, the video shows an unidentified woman chewing on a fruit bat’s wing a restaurant located in the Wuhan province. Another person in the background is telling her in Chinese to “eat the meat! Don’t eat the skin. You should the meat on its back.” There is also a second video where blogger Chen Quishi shows a video of a cooked bat in a bowl of soup.
The two videos have surfaced amid the deadly spread of the coronavirus in China. Bats are one of the carriers of the disease and its origins began at a Wuhan seafood market where several exotic animals who were bitten by the bats are sold to the public.

The virus has also made its way to the United States after an infected Texas man arrived from China and could have put hundreds at risk for the disease. It has killed 17 people in China and 600 others have been infected within the past week.
