Utah Jazz Star Donovan Mitchell Donates $45,000 For Jacob Blake’s Children’s Education

Donovan Mitchell announced on his Instagram page Friday that he would donate $45,000 to fund the education of Jacob Blake’s children.

The Utah Jazz’s star guard said he will donate the proceeds from his shoe sales to support the education of Jacob Blake’s children and Adidas will match the donation in an Instagram post. The caption reads, “For the first 45 hours of the #DONISSUE2 spidey-sense drop, I will be donating $45k of the proceeds to support the education of Jacob Blake’s children,  I’ve also partnered with Adidas who will match my donation for a total of $90k.”

In the video, he also discussed education reform so children can have the same opportunities in the classroom.

“Allowing kids to understand and be able to go into the same classrooms and be able to be taught at a level playing field is something I believe is the key to generational success and being able to push past racism, systemic racism, voter suppression, and everything,”

As reported by The Hill, Mitchell also praised the Milwaukee Bucks for boycotting their game after Blake’s shooting went viral. Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by Kenosha police office Rusten Sheskey after he broke up a fight between two women.

A video of the shooting went viral, causing massive protests throughout the country. Blake is reported to be paralyzed from the waist down and it is unclear if its permanent.
