US Navy Jet Crashes into San Diego Bay: What Went Down?

The latest incident went down in California when a US Military fighter jet crashed into the San Diego Bay on Wednesday. The aircraft, a two-seat EA-18G Growler, suddenly plummeted, but—thankfully—the two pilots on board ejected just seconds before impact. Talk about cutting it close!
By some stroke of luck, a nearby fishing charter saw it all go down and rushed to pull the pilots out of the water. H&M Landing, the San Diego-based fishing company, confirmed the heroic rescue in a statement.
“Upon observing the pilots eject, the crew of the Premier quickly navigated toward the pilots before they even hit the water,” H&M Landing shared.
Frank Ursitti, the company’s general manager, added:
“We are relieved and grateful to have had one of our vessels in the right place at the right time.”
US Military Aviation: A Growing Concern?
This ain’t even the first time a military jet has had folks clutching their pearls. Just a few weeks ago, tragedy struck when a military jet collided with an American Airlines passenger plane, causing a fiery crash into the Potomac River.
That accident claimed the lives of 60 passengers and four crew members from American Eagle Flight 5342, which had been en route from Wichita to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. Every person aboard both aircraft tragically lost their lives, and a major recovery mission pulled dozens of bodies from the river.
Trump’s Controversial Response to Air Safety Fears
In the wake of that deadly collision, former President Donald Trump wasted no time in stirring the pot, linking the disaster to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) policies.
“We have to have our smartest people as air traffic controllers,” Trump said. ”It doesn’t matter what they look like, how they speak, who they are. … They have to be talented, naturally talented. Geniuses. Can’t have regular people doing their job.”
