A new report reveals the US drone strike that the Pentagon believed to have killed a suicide bomber actually killed an aid worker who provided water and several children.

The drone strike that took place less than two weeks ago killed 43-year-old Zemari Ahmadi and nine family members after he was driving a 1996 Toyota Corolla in Kabul, Afghanistan. The deaths included seven children despite reports claiming only three people were killed in the attack. Initially, the Pentagon believed the truck contained explosives but after a further investigation, it contained water jugs that Ahmadi was providing for his family.
According to the Daily Mail, Ahmadi worked for the US-based aid group Nutrition and Education International and was running errands during the day before his death on August 29.

However, the Pentagon claims Ahmadi worked for ISIS and his movement during that day indicated he was a part of that group after believing he was transporting weapons and explosives to a safehouse. ‘U.S. Central Command continues to assess the results of the airstrike in Kabul on August 29. We won’t get ahead of that assessment. However, as we have said, no other military works harder than we do to prevent civilian casualties,’ said Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby
The victims killed in the drone strike were identified as Ahmadi’s three children: Zamir, 20, Faisal, 16, and Farzad, 10; his cousin, Naser,30, and his nephews Arwin, 7, Benyamin, 6, and Hayat, two; and Malika and Somaya, two girls aged 3.
