The news was confirmed by law enforcement officials who told MSNBC that the woman died from injuries sustained during the shooting. A clip of the shooting went viral after the woman was seen being carried out on a stretcher as blood poured from her mouth.

Witness Thomas Morani of New Jersey spoke to BuzzFeed News and said the woman didn’t follow police orders after entering the building. The woman was reported to be in critical condition before her death and protestors rushed to her side after the shooting.

“She didn’t heed the call, and as we kind of raced up to grab people and pull them back, they shot her in the neck. And she fell back on me…and then she started moving weirdly and blood was coming out of her mouth and neck and nose. I don’t know if she’s alive or dead anymore.”
