UPDATE: Two Arrests Made In Hate Crime Attack On Three Transgender Women In Hollywood

Two men responsible for the hate crime attack and robbery of three transgender women in Los Angeles earlier this week, has been arrested according to a police report.

CW affiliate KTLA shared that Carlton Callway, 29, the prime suspect was arrested Thursday in Bakersfield on suspicion of hate crime enhancement. Justin Eisenberg, deputy chief for the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau, also announced that Willie Walker, 42, was taken into police custody in Hollywood on suspicion of extortion. One other man, 22-year-old Davion Williams, is reportedly is still at large. Police said he is accused of assault with a deadly weapon.

Eisenberg told reporters in a news briefing Thursday, What was particularly callous about these crimes was the actions of the onlookers, who are recorded and appear to celebrate the assaults rather than render aid and assist the victims,” The Hill quotes.

As we previously reported, the incident occurred on Monday around 2 a.m. and was caught on video and later went viral. Thanks to tips by LGBTQ activists, the men who are currently in custody were identified by police, LAPD Capt. Steve Lurie said.
