UPDATE: Travis Scott, Drake & Live Nation Hit With A Second Lawsuit — Accused Of Inciting Chaos
As we previously reported, a guy named Manuel Souza has already lawyered up and reportedly filed a lawsuit Saturday in Harris County District Court over the deadly Astroworld Festival. He claimed he was hurt during the event and alleged both negligence and gross negligence on behalf of Travis Scott, Live and others he lists as defendants.
According to an updated report by TMZ, another festival attendee has filed a lawsuit. A person named Kristian Paredes is suing Trav, Drake and LN for negligence. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Paredes claims Travis and Drake helped incite the crowd that night, suggesting they either were aware or should’ve been aware of the reaction the crowd would have once they both took the stage. The plaintiff mentioned Travi’s past chaotic shows, which should’ve been a reason to prepare better this year.
Paredes also claims the folks who organized the event’s security and logistics — including Travis himself, who Paredes believes was in charge of the whole thing — did a poor job of planning and keeping everyone safe. As a result of all of this, Paredes is also seeking at least a million dollars in damages after being injured.
More lawsuits are expected to come forth as Famed civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump said he has filed on behalf of survivor Noah Gutierrez and expects to file on behalf of others soon. Gutierrez, 21, described a scene of “chaos and desperation,” Crump said.
“We are hearing horrific accounts of the terror and helplessness people experienced,” Crump said in a statement. “The horror of a crushing crowd and the awful trauma of watching people die while trying to save them.”
