Three Other Officers Involved In The Killing Of George Floyd Have Been CHARGED With Aiding And Abetting Murder

A step closer to justice: Just a moment ago we received the news from Senator Amy Klobuchar that Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is increasing charges against ex-officer Derek Chauvin; 2nd degree in George Floyd’s murder.

She also shared that Ellison was going to charge the other 3 officers involved. At the time, no further details were shared. But according to the latest updates, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng have all been charged with aiding and abetting.

As we previously reported, while Derek Chauvin had his knee pressed onto Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng, helped restrain Floyd. Tou Thao, stood around and did nothing while Floyd painfully suffered until he died. Lane, 37, Kueng, 26, and Thao, 34, are now charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter, CNN reports.

The news site notes, second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree murder are punishable by up to 40 years in prison. Meanwhile, Manslaughter and aiding and abetting manslaughter are punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for the Floyd family, said on Twitter that the family was gratified with the new charges.

“This is a bittersweet moment. We are deeply gratified that (Ellison) took decisive action, arresting & charging ALL the officers involved in #GeorgeFloyd’s death & upgrading the charge against Derek Chauvin to felony second-degree murder,” he said.
