UPDATE: Texas Widow Who Recorded Husband’s Shooting Death Files $50 Million Wrongful Death Claim Against Gunman

The Texas woman who filmed her husband’s death after being shot by his ex-wife’s boyfriend has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the gunman.

Kyle Carruth fatally shot Chad Read on Nov. 5 during a visitation argument in front of Carruth’s home in Lubbock. Chad’s wife, Jennifer Read, caught it on video. She says her husband was murdered; Carruth says he shot Chad in self-defense.

Jennifer is blaming Carruth for delinquency, civil assault, purposeful infliction of emotional discomfort, and negligence per se in her $50 million lawsuits. She titles Carruth and his corporation Vitruvian Development, LLC as defendants.

As we previously reported, Jennifer Read, was sitting inside a car as she witnessed Kyle Carruth shoot her spouse Chad Read to death on Nov. 5. The men were battling over the time Chad was presumed to take custody of his youngest son, whom he shared with Kyle’s girlfriend Christina Read.

The full video shows the father and ex-wife and her boyfriend exchanging words. 

“I don’t care if you wanted to see him or not, I get him at 3:15,” Chad says to Christina. “You want to see him, see him before 3:15. You keep trying keep my son from me. I’m fixing to drag you, and Ann-Marie, and everybody else into court.”
