As previously reported, a scary situation unfolded outside of Rihanna’s Los Angeles home over the weekend, and now police say they know exactly who was behind it.
Authorities have identified the woman accused of firing gunshots toward the superstar’s property.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke with multiple outlets, including journalist Loren LoRosa, the suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Ivana Lisette Ortiz. Officials say she was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after allegedly pulling up near Rihanna’s residence and opening fire from her vehicle.
Police say Rihanna was actually inside the home when the shots rang out. Thankfully, nobody inside the property was hurt. But the situation could have gone very differently. Authorities say Ortiz has since been booked for attempted murder, with bail set at a staggering $10,225,000. She remains in custody as the investigation continues.
What reportedly went down
According to early details from investigators, Ortiz allegedly drove up near the Los Angeles property and discharged several shots in the direction of the home while the singer and her family were inside.
Law enforcement quickly responded to the scene and were able to detain the suspect without any further chaos.
Inside the home at the time were Rihanna’s children — RZA Athelston Mayers and Riot Rose Mayers — along with their father, rapper A$AP Rocky.
Sources say everyone inside the house was safe, and there were no reported injuries.
Motive still unclear
Right now, investigators are still trying to figure out what could have sparked the incident. Police haven’t said whether Ortiz had any previous connection to Rihanna or her family, and the motive remains under investigation.
For now, fans are just relieved that the situation didn’t turn into something far worse.
Still, the idea that someone would roll up to the home of one of the biggest stars in the world and start firing shots? Yeah… that’s the kind of story that leaves people shaking their heads.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and more details could come out as the case moves forward.
