The Maryland government has officially shut down the daycare center where an employee filmed herself abusing two children, according to Fox 5 DC.
Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said that the employee’s actions showed a complete disregard for humanity. “In this case, we have to look at protecting the public,” Braveboy said. “We have someone who was alleged to have abused defenseless children. That really shows a callous disregard for humanity, and so we were very concerned about her engaging with the general public.”
As we previously reported, A video posted on social media showed Kayla Greenwell filming herself picking a child up by the arm and slamming her to the floor at the Oxon Hill Learning Center. In another clip you can see what’s believed to be the same employee kicking out a chair from underneath a second child.
Ledarra White spoke with 7News and said she rushed to pick up her 3-year-old son from the daycare Friday night. “I was asleep. It was my day off and I woke up to a lot of messages just sending me videos saying, ‘isn’t this your son’s school? Isn’t this your son’s school?’” White said.
“It is disgusting. I have a heart for kids, I love kids, and to wake up to that, I mean, I personally saw the video and I knew the kids. I knew exactly who the kid was, so it hurt me even more,” White continued. The center announced that the video was taken inside their facility, saying they contacted the Prince George’s County Police 1Department and child protective services. A letter was sent out to families of the daycare Friday, saying in part: “As many of you know, a disturbing video showing a former employee displaying inappropriate behavior with two children has gone viral on social media. The letter read.
