Jennifer Lopez has set the record straight after a previous report claimed she was upset at Ben Affleck over his comments about his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

In an official statement to PEOPLE, Lopez said she is not upset with Affleck and actually defended his comments after he faced backlash online where it was presumed he blamed his struggles with sobriety on his ex-wife.” This story is simply not true. It is not how I feel. I couldn’t have more respect for Ben as a father, a co-parent, and a person,” she explained exclusively to the media outlet.
As previously reported, a source claimed Lopez was upset at her partner citing that she was going to be placed in the middle of the backlash.

Affleck also addressed the backlash during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! show and noted that he didn’t want his children to think he was saying bad things about their mother.
“I had gone on and said how much we respect each other and cared about each other and cared about our kids and put them first and went through our stuff. [I] blamed my ex-wife for my alcoholism and that I was trapped in this marriage…just made me out to be like the worst, most insensitive, stupid, awful guy.”
