Alyssa was playing outside while waiting for her bus in West Pensacola early Tuesday when she saw the man running toward her. “What is he going to do with me?” the girl told WKRG. “Where is he going to … where am I going to be at? What is my family going to think? Scared … anxious.” Alyssa added: “He had a knife in his hand. I tried running off but he grabbed me. He took me with his arm and I was able to get him down to the ground and I was able to get away.” Thankfully, her neighbor’s door was open, so she ran to his house.

Amber Bonal, 30, told the Pensacola News Journal that her daughter was playing with the homemade blue substance at the time while waiting for her bus. “Her first words were, ‘Somebody tried to kidnap me! He grabbed me by my throat and he had a knife!’” Bonal told the news outlet. “She said she was able to kick and she tripped him and freed herself.” The mother added: “She said, ‘Mom, I had to leave some sort of evidence behind, like on ‘Law & Order: SVU.’ We’ve watched probably every episode on Hulu. She’s a smart cookie, she thinks on her toes. She got that slime everywhere.”

Deputies later found the white Dodge Journey the man is suspected of driving in the home’s driveway, although the front chrome bumper had been freshly painted black. The suspect — who was identified late Tuesday night as Jared Paul Stanga — was taken into custody. Stanga has been charged with attempted kidnapping of a child under age 13, aggravated assault and aggravated battery, according to the post.
