UPDATE: ESPN Suspends Sage Steele From Programming Following Her Comments Regarding Barack Obama’s Black Father

ESPN has removed personality Sage Steele from programming after she made some shocking comments during her appearance on the Podcast “Uncut”. She spoke on how the coronavirus vaccine mandate is “sick” and also saying it’s “fascinating” that former President Obama says he’s Black “considering his Black dad was nowhere to be found.”

“Congratulations to the President, that’s his thing.” She added, “I think that’s fascinating considering his black dad is nowhere to be found but his white mom and grandma raised him, but okay. You do you. I’m gonna do me.” In a follow-up line, Steele said, “Listen, I’m pretty sure my white mom was there when I was born. And my white family loves me as much as my black family.”

Now a source has confirmed that Steele won’t be seen in her regular noon “Sportscenter” slot for one week and she won’t host the 2021 “espnW: Women + Sports Summit,” which is dated from Oct 18-20.
“At ESPN, we embrace different points of view — dialogue and discussion makes this place great,” ESPN shared in a statement. “That said, we expect that those points of view be expressed respectfully, in a manner consistent with our values, and in line with our internal policies.”
ESPN also released an apology from Steele, “I know my recent comments created controversy for the company, and I apologize,” Steele said. “We are in the midst of an extremely challenging time that impacts all of us, and it’s more critical than ever that we communicate constructively and thoughtfully.”
