Looks like Diddy may be taking legal action of his own after the New York Police Department incorrectly stated he was the subject of a private investigation.
At the time of the report that was initially shared by TMZ, law enforcement sources told the outlet there was an open case at NYPD with the name, “Sean Combs.” The case was said to be “locked,” with no further details shared.
However, the alleged spokesperson did release a statement to TMZ saying, “The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously, and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors.”
In a shocking new update, the NYPD has since released a statement saying the information its spokesperson provided was absolutely incorrect.
“Yesterday, a member of the NYPD’s public information office erroneously told a reporter about the apparent existence of an active case file containing the name ‘Sean Combs.’ There is no such investigation, at present. Further, the release of such information is not consistent with the internal policies of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information.”
The new statement continued,
“The NYPD always treats allegations of sexual assault and rape extremely seriously, and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so that support and services can be offered to survivors and a comprehensive investigation can be conducted.”

Diddy has not yet released a statement on these false claims and reports. However, a rep for the business mogul spoke out to deny the serious allegations that were made against him by his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a new lawsuit.
As we previously reported, Cassie, a singer and entertainer whose full name is Cassandra Ventura, alleged in a complaint that she filed on Thursday in federal court in New York City that Diddy raped and physically abused her — including punching, beating, kicking, and stomping on her — over the course of their relationship.
“After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story,” she said in a statement on Thursday.
In a statement issued late on Thursday by high-profile New York lawyer Benjamin Brafman, he said his client “vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations”. Brafman added that Ventura resorted to filing a lawsuit “riddled with baseless and outrageous lies” after a failed attempt to blackmail Combs.
“For the past 6 months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation, and seeking a payday.”
