UPDATE: Christian Group Raises Over $500K For Kyle Rittenhouse’s Legal Defense
Last month, we reported that a Christian group had raised over $80K for Kenosha, Wisconsin shooter Kyle Rittenhouse’s legal defense. One month later, that total now sits at over $500K.
At the time or publishing this article, the campaign page on the Christian crowdfunding site, GiveSendGo, shows a total of $525,770 — beating the $500,000 goal initially set by the Friends of the Rittenhouse family. The funds will be used to help retain attorneys and settle the 17-year-old’s $2 million bail; which was set after he shot three Black Lives Matter protestors on August 25, killing two with a Smith & Wesson AR-15-style .223 caliber rifle.

In the description of the campaign, it reads, “Now, Kyle is being unfairly charged with murder 1, by a DA who seems determined to capitalize on the political angle of the situation. The situation was clearly self-defense, and Kyle and his family will undoubtedly need money to pay for the legal fees. Let’s give back to someone who bravely tried to defend his community.”
Per The New York Post, Rittenhouse is currently being held on charges including first-degree reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18. He is also fighting extradition from Illinois to Wisconsin to stand trial.
