University Of Alabama Reports Over 500 COVID-19 Cases Since Classes Resumed
Health experts have warned Americans about the severity of trying to reopen schools during the pandemic. Still, governors around the county decided to move forward, putting thousands of students at risk of catching the virus.

According to The Hill, the University of Alabama just r experienced an “unacceptable rise” in coronavirus cases, just six days after classes began. the main campus in Tuscaloosa has recorded a total of 531 cases. The remaining campuses in Birmingham and Huntsville have recorded 35 cases cumulatively, according to the university’s Covid-19 dashboard.
Despite that, the University of Alabama President Stuart R. Bell asked students, faculty, and staff to work together “at this critical moment” following the big climb in Covid-19 cases on campus. He also urged social distancing, mask wearing, and limited gatherings. For those who refuse to cooperate, he said violators would be subject to possible suspension from school, CNN notes. “Completing the fall semester together is our goal,” Bell said Sunday in an email to students. “The margin for error is shrinking.”
To ensure patrons and residents follow coronavirus safety guidelines, University police and Tuscaloosa police will monitor restaurants, off-campus residences, and Greek housing, Bell shared.
