UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting Suspect’s Alleged Backpack Reportedly Contained Monopoly Money And Tommy Hilfiger Jacket, No Gun Found

After it was learned that a backpack was found and alleged to belong to the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect, it’s now reported that the alleged bookbag only contained two things: Monopoly money and a Tommy Hilfiger jacket; and the gun used has still not been recovered.

As we previously shared, on December 4, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot in Midtown, New York, and the bullet casings from the ammunition that killed Thompson reportedly had the words: “Deny,” “Defend,” and “Depose,” written on them.

As the massive manhunt began for the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect, New York Police Department (NYPD) officials ended up finding a backpack in Central Park on Friday evening (December 6). NYPD investigators said they believed the backpack belonged to the shooting suspect, although they had yet to officially confirm the origin of the bag. In the meantime, they took it to a forensics lab in Queens for further investigation.

On Saturday evening (December 7), reports began to break claiming the UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting suspect’s alleged backpack only contained two things: Monopoly money and a Tommy Hilfiger jacket; with the gun still not found. According to ABC News, sources with direct knowledge of the ongoing investigation said the NYPD is making good progress towards identifying the suspect, however, they still have yet to confirm an identity.

Now in the fourth day of their manhunt, NYPD investigators have continued combing through the city for evidence and further clues to bring forth the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect. In addition to searching Central Park and other areas near the shooting incident, investigators are also using police divers. Some officers have already searched a pond near Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, not too far from the area where the UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting suspect’s alleged backpack was discovered.

As mentioned, the gun used in the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting has not yet been recovered by police, and it is unclear if authorities have pulled any evidence from the water. However, investigators are continuing to search the city and retrace the steps of the shooter, before and after the murder of the insurance company CEO.

NYPD investigators have been in contact with officials in the Atlanta Police Department, who confirmed that some investigators from New York arrived in the city on Saturday following tips that came from the city about the shooter. NYPD investigators were told the shooting suspect allegedly arrived in New York on a Greyhound bus from Atlanta before the incident.
