Ukraine President Zelenskyy Banned Men Ages 18-60 From Leaving Country ‘To Ensure Defense Of State’
Ukrainian men ages 18-60 have been banned from leaving their country as Russia declared war on Ukraine, forcing its President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to create a temporary ban “to ensure defense of state.” Reportedly, Russia has the second largest military arsenal in the world, with about 900,000 personnel, while Ukraine’s military arsenal consists of 361,000 troops.
Yesterday (Feb. 24), Zelenskyy ordered a general military mobilization after Russia invaded his country. Coupled with it, the Ukrainian government imposed a martial law, temporarily restricting men ages 18-60 from exiting the country. The new declaration’s purpose will “ensure the defense of the state, and maintain combat and mobilization readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.” Zelenskyy also tweeted that he’d “give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country.”

In a follow-up statement, Ukraine’s interior ministry further explained, “The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports that due to the imposition of martial law in Ukraine, a certain category of citizens is temporarily restricted from leaving Ukraine. In particular, male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 are prohibited from leaving Ukraine. Such a rule will apply for the period of martial law. We ask citizens to take this information into account.”
